Young Adults
Therapy for your twenties, and everything they ask of you
Your late teens and twenties can ask you to figure out a great deal at once: school or work, money, relationships, where to live and who you want to be. It is a lot, even when things are going well. Therapy gives you a steady hour to sort through it, in Tampa or by telehealth anywhere in Florida.

A run of firsts
This stretch of life is full of firsts: living away from home, managing your own schedule, a first real job, a first serious relationship or a first hard breakup. The structure that school and family provided starts to fall away, and it can feel as though everyone else has a plan except you. Comparison does not help, especially when other people's lives arrive on your phone already edited.
- School and work: College pressure, first jobs, and not knowing yet what you want to do.
- Independence: Bills, chores and decisions that used to belong to someone else.
- Relationships: Friendships changing, dating, and family ties shifting as you grow up.
- Direction: Feeling stuck, behind, or unsure which way to go next.
When focus, worry or mood get in the way
For some young adults, ADHD becomes much more noticeable once the structure of high school is gone. Lectures replace a scheduled day, deadlines sit weeks away, and nobody checks in. ADHD is the primary specialty of the practice, and the ADHD therapy page and the page on adult ADHD describe how that work goes here.
Worry can also spike during big transitions, whether it shows up as racing thoughts at night or dread before social situations. Anxiety therapy and social anxiety cover those. If things feel flat or heavy, or burnout has set in earlier than you expected, that deserves attention too.
You do not have to have it all figured out. You need a next step that makes sense.
How sessions work
Sessions are practical and direct. We start with what you want to be different, in specific terms, and look for the times things are already going a bit better. The approach is solution focused, drawing on CBT, ACT and DBT skills where they help: testing the thoughts that keep you stuck, acting on what matters even while you are unsure, and steadying big emotions when life feels like too much at once.
There is room for the bigger questions too, such as identity, values, and what you want your life to look like, which the life transitions page explores further. If self-doubt is a constant companion, the self-esteem page covers that thread.
A free 15-minute consultation is the simplest place to start. No commitment, just a short conversation about what you are looking for.
Book a SessionFitting therapy into a full schedule
Between classes, shifts and everything else, finding an hour can be the hardest part. Telehealth lets you join from anywhere private in Florida, and office hours include Wednesday until 9:00pm and Saturday from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Sessions can only be held while you are physically in Florida, so time spent out of state, such as summers or a semester away, needs planning ahead.
Diagnosis and medication sit with medical providers. Therapy here focuses on the daily and emotional side of what you are dealing with.
Common questions
What if I do not know exactly what is wrong?
That is a fine place to start. A sense that things are not working the way you want is enough, and part of the first sessions is working out together what to focus on.
Can I do sessions from my dorm or apartment?
Yes, as long as you are in Florida and can find a private spot. Headphones help if you share a space.
What if I think I have ADHD but was never diagnosed?
Diagnosis sits with medical providers, so that question belongs with one. Therapy can still focus on day-to-day struggles with focus, time and follow through, and the adult ADHD page describes that work.
Can I come in person if I live in Tampa?
Yes. The office is at 400 N. Ashley Drive, Suite 1900 in downtown Tampa, and you can mix in person and video sessions as your schedule changes from semester to semester or job to job.
