When the commute eats the day
A lot of Fort Lauderdale works somewhere other than where it sleeps. People drive or take the train north and south along the corridor, and the day gets bracketed by traffic on both ends. Adding a therapy appointment to that usually means adding another trip, which is why good intentions quietly expire. Meeting by video puts the session inside a lunch break or straight after work, from your car in a quiet lot if that is what the day allows.
What people bring is often the pressure of that pace: sleep that has slipped, a temper that turns up at home rather than at work, drinking a bit more to come down in the evening. We work on it practically, and if substances have become part of how you switch off, that is a normal thing to look at directly in addiction counseling.
An affirming place to be direct
- Commuters: No extra trip. The session comes to wherever you can find a private half hour.
- LGBTQ+ clients: Broward has a large and long established community. Sessions are affirming as a matter of course, not a specialism you have to request.
- Professionals: Discretion matters. Nothing about a video session announces itself to a colleague.
- Couples: Two schedules, one shared evening. Video makes it far easier to both show up.
You should not need a spare hour of traffic to get help.
How the work is done
I am Jason Versace, MA, LMHC, NCC, holding Florida license MH21235 through Psi Wellness, Inc. The work is solution focused and blended with CBT, ACT and DBT: clear about what you want to change, then practical about the thoughts and habits closest to it. Short measures such as the PHQ-9, GAD-7 and MDQ let us see whether it is working instead of taking it on faith.
Broward clients most often start with anxiety, depression, LGBTQ+ affirming therapy, or couples therapy. The mechanics of the online format are on telehealth across Florida.
